(More customer reviews)Since I have started using this unit I have cooked my best Thanksgiving turkey, my best Christmas ham and my best New Year's pork roast ever.The only reason it's not 5 star is that I've needed the booklet almost every time I've used it.The controls aren't difficult, but they aren't really intuitive either.I'd go 4-1/2 stars if I had the option.

Featuring iPod-style controls and an amber backlit LCD, the Maverick Voice Alert wireless cooking thermometer transmits up to 100 feet and lets you know when food is ready with temperature and taste control voice alerts. Just insert the needle end into the meat, and either clip the Thermometer transmitter to your pocket or leave it in its cradle. Timer and voice messages will tell you when you're needed. Other features include a built-in countdown timer, external antenna for excellent reception, nest-style transmitter charges and holds unit, and a rain intrusion seal. (More customer reviews)It's accurate but please remove from grill when you've got the temp where you want it. Mine got spattered with grease from steaks and bugers. The dial became unreadable and nothing I tried (soap & water in a cloth, goo be gone, degreasers) worked. I used a scouring pad as a last resort and it did clean the grease off as well as the number 200. Like I said , either remove it or move it away from the food.

Get yourgrill at the right temperature for the right cut of meat. The grill surface needs to be 500to 550 degrees degrees to perfectly sear your steaks. The thicker cuts of meat need a lower surface temperature so they won't burn or blacken. The thinner cuts of meat need to cooked higher and faster so they don't dry out.The Weekend Warriorfills this need at a reasonable cost. Rule of thumb- 1/2-inch steaks surface temperature 425 to 450 degrres. Medium cuts -3/4 to 1-inch thick- 360 to 400 degrees. Thicker cuts -1-1/4 to 1-1/2 thick - 325 to 350 degrees

(More customer reviews)This grill surface thermometer does its job just like it is supposed too.I have owned it for about 2 years and it has seen many uses on the gas and charcoal grills.It has a color coded face so you can easily see if you have the heat high enough to sear or if you are staying withing the idea grilling zone.It also has notches on the face which allow you to insert a spatula to remove it.All in all....I am impressed with the accuracy and durability of this product.
