This looks great online but does not bake nor come out as pretty as the picture shows.The star is a 1/4 inch and the middle of the cake is 4 inches.The star was burnt and the middle was not done.I will still try to prefect this, somehow.

I received this grill as a gift (I would have purchased one regardless).Prior to my Weber Genesis Silver C with side burner, I owned a $125 Charbroil with a sideburner.The Charbroil was fine, but after 2 years it needed new grates, and the cover for the gas burner had rusted (it would have helped if we had gotten a cover for it).It never cooked evenly and the flare-ups were horrible if you weren't careful.

I love my Weber.The first thing I did was purchase a cover for it.The first night we put it together (took 2 people about an hour) we made burgers.I'd never made such a yummy burgers.The flavorizor bars definitly add a smokiness to your food.Even plain chicken breasts taste great.The grill is a pretty generous size.I was able to cook 2 - 5 lb beer can chickens, 5 lbs of country style pork ribs, and about 30 kabobs with no problem.The flip up side is great too when you need a little extra space for your plates, tongs, etc.I've made the usual steaks, chicken, grilled veggies, fish, and even pizza on my grill.

A few tips:
Always pre-heat
Clean your grill after it pre-heats before you start cooking
Oil your grates - this is a must especially if you don't coat your food in oil, also makes clean up easier. Just take a paper towel, fold it up, grab with tongs dip in oil and use like a paintbrush to oil your grates.Even turkey burgers shouldn't stick.
Buy a cover - You just spent a lot of $$, it will keep your grill protected and clean.My grill has the cabinet underneath so i just put the cover in there while I'm using it.

This grill will last you years, just read the manual and perform the suggested yearly maintenance.I have friends that have a 12 year old weber, still runs like a champ!

First off, the packaging was horrible.It came in a box not much bigger than the pan with NO packing at all.The handle was sticking out the side of the box when I got it!!No biggie though.I opened the box and found the pan to be of poor quality, the handle was barely long enough for me to hold in my hand and with no handle opposite, it would be a chore to move this baby around when you had a few pounds of food in it!!The casting was REALLY rough and you could see that there was about a 3 inch spot in the middle where the casting was very thin.This thing was junk and I sent it back to be replaced by a Lodge.Bayou Classics are cast in China and they look like it!!Wish I knew that before I ordered it!!

This was a huge hit at my last family get-together. It makes great hot dogs, and does a nice job of keeping everything warm. The directions on how to assemble were awful. My husband had a hard time, because it came with a lot of screws, etc.-it just doesn't go into to detail on how to put it together. It does come with a nice cover for when it's not in use.
Everyone seemed to like making their own hot dog their way. We had a great time with it, and we think it will be a hit at our backyard carnival.

This is a griddle with optional buffet serving dishes that I've not used, and I wanted a griddle.I thought the dishes were worth $20, one day we'll see.Griddle only is available with a different model number at $20 less.At 27 1/4 x 13 1/2 counting the handles you need to have a storage location lined up.It's quite a bit larger than my prior (jumbo-size) unit, the handles add a lot to the size.I had to do some reconfiguring of my storage.It does look quite elegant.My main issue is that the temp control goes into the griddle under a handle, making it difficult to see and operate.More difficult than you would ever think.Horrible design.As far as cooking goes, though, I really like it.It does have hot spots, any home unit will, but much less than a run-of-the-mill cheap unit.You can work around that by moving the food around.Scrambled eggs - enough to cover the whole thing - came out flawless each time, with no burning at the hot spots, pancakes too.I do run this a click lower than the suggested temps, which likely helps in that regard.This thing cooks much better than my $40 prior unit, the non-stick coating appears to be a lot better, and it looks 100 times better.All in all I like it, the pros outweight the cons.

Addition May 24 2010:Use this almost every weekend and have some experience with it now.Also, have now used the "buffet serving dishes" - which are 3 pans with lids that have cut-outs for serving spoons, in the commercial world these would be called one-third pans.Worked great - I was concerned the food would not stay hot at the highest recommended setting (simmer, or 200 degrees) but it did.There is a trim piece (large and somewhat delicate - something else to store) which encases the pans, that gives it all a very finished look, it looks real good on your table.Non-stick coating has yet to get any ding or other defect, but if you are doing something like eggs you may want to hit it with a film of cooking oil (or fry bacon first).The directions do say to "season" it frequently.The location of the temp control I still do not like but I've grown accustomed to it, not a big deal.Throw in the 3 year warranty instead of the usual one year and you have a winner.Bottom line is, I would buy this again, for sure, and I have increased my rating to 5 stars.
